Their purpose is to protect compressors andoil level regulators from damage.ApplicationsThe Henry Technologies S-4004 oil filter and S-4005 oil filter drier can beused in both Low and High Pressure Oil Management Systems. Models aresuitable for HCFC and HFC refrigerants along with their associated oils.The unique drying features of the S-4005 model are particularly suited forsystems using POE oil. This type of oil is more hydroscopic than mineral oil.This means that POE oil absorbs moisture at a much higher rate. Moisturein a refrigeration system can produce problems and/or harmful conditions.One S-4004 or S-4005 model can be fitted in the oil return line between theoil separator and oil reservoir, instead of fitting one oil strainer per oil levelregulator. Henry Oil Line Strainer 3/8 MSAEThe Henry Technologies SH-9105 oil strainer can be used in both Low andHigh Pressure Oil Management Systems. The strainer is suitable for HCFCand HFC refrigerants, along with their associated oils.Although the strainer is compatible with HFC/POE refrigerant/oil combinations,Henry Technologies recommends the use of an oil filter or oil filter-drier. Thisis due to the scavenging nature of POE oil.Greater system protection will be achieved using an oil filter or oil filter driersover a traditional oil strainers.Typically, an oil strainer is fitted immediately upstream of a mechanical oillevel regulator in order to protect the float needle valve from debris. This inturn protects the compressor from damage.

POE lubricants are actually created by reacting an alcohol with an acid. However, this lubricant can break down into its acid and alcohol componentseither from excessive heat such as a motor burn-out or high discharge temperatures, or with excessive system moisture. This acid can cause damage to a system and may eventually cause the system to fail prematurely. It is important that such a condition bediagnosed early and that system be cleaned up according to proper industry procedures.
