Units of 7 kW and above add $80.00. Back-to-back means the indoor and outdoor units sit on either side of the same outside wall. Longer pipe runs, a second storey or extra electrical work are quoted first.
A standard installation includes up to 3 metres of copper pipe, the outdoor unit on PVC legs on level ground and power run to a nearby socket, for homes within 15 km of the city. Anything extra is priced from your photos before the job. More on our heat pump installation page.
Which heat pump do you need?
- High wall heat pumps: the most common choice for one room, and the quickest to install.
- Ducted systems: hidden in the ceiling with a vent in each room, to heat or cool the whole home.
- Multi split systems: one outdoor unit running two or more indoor units.
- Ceiling cassettes, floor consoles and under ceiling units for rooms where a wall unit does not suit.
What size do you need?
The right size depends on floor area, ceiling height, insulation, glass and how cold your winters get. These are starting points for a well insulated room with a standard 2.4 m ceiling:
