Heat pump guides
Floor console heat pumps
A floor console sits low on the wall, about where a heater would go. Warm air comes out at floor level, where you feel it, so many people find it more comfortable than a high wall unit. It is a popular way to replace an old fireplace or night store heater, and it fits under a window when there is no high wall space.
Right now we have 11 floor consoles in stock from Daikin, Panasonic, Gree and Haier. Prices start at $2,029.99 incl. GST.
What size do you need?
The right size depends on floor area, ceiling height, insulation, glass and how cold your winters get. These are starting points for a well insulated room with a standard 2.4 m ceiling:
| Room | Typical heating size |
|---|---|
| Small bedroom, up to 12 m² | 2.0 to 2.5 kW |
| Large bedroom or study, 12 to 20 m² | 2.5 to 3.5 kW |
| Lounge, 20 to 30 m² | 3.5 to 5.0 kW |
| Open-plan living, 30 to 50 m² | 5.0 to 7.0 kW |
| Large open-plan, over 50 m² | 7.0 kW and up, or a ducted system |
Go a size up for poor insulation, a lot of glass, high or raked ceilings, or a colder area such as most of the South Island. Send us the room size and where you live, and we will send you suitable models.
Delivery and payment
All prices include GST. Delivery is anywhere in New Zealand and usually takes 3 to 9 working days. Pay by card or bank transfer, use Afterpay, or spread the cost interest free with Gem Visa or Q Card.
Common questions
Can I buy the unit only, for my own installer?
Yes. You can buy supply only. Your installer needs to be licensed, and keep the Certificate of Compliance for your warranty.
Where do you install?
We arrange installation in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch and Invercargill. Ask us about other areas.
What warranty do I get?
The manufacturer warranty applies to every unit. The length depends on the brand and model, and many heat pumps carry 5 years. Installation done by our installers has a 12-month workmanship warranty. Use a licensed installer, or the manufacturer warranty can be refused.
