Hitachi heat pumps in New Zealand

Hitachi’s home range in New Zealand comes down to four families. The airHome 400 and airHome 600 are the wall mounted heat pumps for one room. airHome Multi-Pro runs up to five rooms from a single outdoor unit. The airCore 700 range covers the bigger jobs: ducted, ceiling cassette, under ceiling and large wall units from 5 kW up to 16 kW. Every unit listed above is one we supply, priced incl. GST.

airHome 400 or airHome 600?

Both are reverse cycle inverter wall units with Hitachi’s FrostWash self-clean. The 600 adds more of the automatic comfort features. In the complete sets we list, the two series come in the same four sizes: 2.5, 3.5, 5 and 7.1 kW cooling.

Hitachi’s own test of FrostWash: after a chamber test simulating about two years of dust and oil, the unit without FrostWash lost 18% of its airflow and the unit with it lost 6%. On the airHome 600, Hitachi quotes an air throw of up to 24 metres for the RAK-VJ50PHAT and larger models.

Heating several rooms: airHome Multi-Pro

Multi-Pro connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, and each room has its own control. Indoor choices are wall units (airHome 800, 600 and 400), floor units, 4-way ceiling cassettes and slim ducted units. On our site the Multi-Pro indoor units and outdoor units are listed separately. Larger spaces: airCore 700

airCore 700 sets come as mid or high static ducted, Silent Iconic ceiling cassette, under ceiling and high wall, with single phase and three phase outdoor units in the larger sizes. Hitachi lists airCore 700 in both its home ducted range and its commercial split systems. A ducted or cassette install depends on ceiling space and pipe runs, so it is quoted after we see the plans or photos.

Warranty

Hitachi New Zealand lists 6 years parts and labour for the airHome 400 and 600 wall ranges, airCore 700 single split ducted, cassette and ceiling suspended systems, and Multi-split (RAM) systems. High usage sites such as server rooms get 3 years, and accessories 1 year. Hitachi requires the system to be installed by a trained professional for the warranty to apply.

Installation and delivery

We arrange installation within 15 km of Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch and Invercargill. Wall mounted sets show a standard installation option on the product page. For other areas, buy supply only and use your own licensed installer. Delivery anywhere in New Zealand usually takes 3 to 9 working days.
