The Japanese destroyer Amatsukaze was commissioned on October 26 1940, and saw a lot of action during the first year of the Pacific War, even managing to sink the destroyer USS Barton with two torpedoes. It miraculously stayed afloat after losing its bow to an attack by the submarine USS Redfin in 1944, but was later damaged irreparably on April 6 1945 when it was attacked by USAAF B-25s.
